Munich Bound
I leave for Munich today. Train to Nurnburg then change for Munich train. I arrive at the Hauptbahnhof then take the U-Bahn to the residence where I'm staying. I've emailed the rentor twice and received no reply. I will call when I arrive Munich. I have no idea if I will have easy internet access. this may be it for a while
I left Schwäbisch Hall this morning. Pat had 3 eggs left over so I scrambeled them. I had already packed my coffee so I could only have tea to drink, sacrilege! It still beat what I had planned for breakfast, a brötchen with butter. Added bonus, saved trip to the bakery.
I'm taking the train from Schwäbisch Hall Hessental to Nürenburg. We got the Bahnhof in plenty of time by taxi. Had time for a cup of coffee which was suprisingly good. I was gratified to see some of the other passsengers drinking beer and downing shots at 930 in the morning. Gotta love Germany, it's Ireland with a Teutonic accent.
The train arrived precisely on time (naturlich). There were a bunch of rowdy (drunken) football fans on the train. It made for a colorful ride.
The ICE (InterCity Express) train was incredible. Very comfortable reclining seats. There was a screen by the door which displayed the train information as well as rhe speed. At one time I saw the train was going 296 kph, which I believe is about 180 mpd. And the ride was smooth! It only took an hour between Nürnberg & München.
The Marienplatz. There was a huge rally going on for the Football Club München. I think they were playing Berlin and beating them. You would not believe the drunkenness on the way back. As you can see, they actually wear the lederhosen regularly and are not just playing dressup. They are traditional clothing they are proud of. I liken them to Texans wearing their stetsons.
Marienplatz, location of the famous Glockenspiel clock.
Viktualienmarkt
Open air market selling produce, meats, cheeses, etc.
I finally have digital service on my phone, on which I'm writing this post. I'm sitting in the Augistiner Bier Garten having just downed a 1L Maß of pils.
Biertrinken at the Augustiner-Bräustuben
I drained that whole damned thing. Funny thing was, I wasn't thirsty to begin with. The beer was excellent. Curiously, there were 2 less Bierdeckels on the table than when I got there.
The weather turned to crap. Rainy, getting colder. This is going to put a damper (pardon the pun) on the next two day's plans.
