Relaxing before the 3 Kilometer walk back.

On this site stood the Steinbacher Synagogue. On the night of November 10, 1938 (Krystallnacht) Haller Nazis looted and set ablaze this Jewish house of worship.


It's sad to see these memorials, but good. The Germans seem to have it right, now and are not trying to sweep an unpleasant past under the rug. They are forcing themselves to remember. And we know the Santayana quote...

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
