Washington Nationals' Park

We drove up to DC for the day to watch a game at the Nationals' new ballpark. The park is located off the Anacostia River not far from the Navy Yard. We took advantage of the free parking and shuttle bus at RFK stadium.

Nationals Park has several interesting features. The outfield is not symmetrical and has some odd angles on the outfield walls. I liked the two tiered bar - Red Loft & Red Porch out in left center and the picture on the big screen is phenomonal. Another interesting feature is the 'closed caption' for the public address system. A display over the visitor's bullpen in left field displayed the text of the PA announcements. Reminded me of the supertext at the opera.
The view from the stands is not what it could have been. There is a lot of construction and the notable DC sights are mostly blocked from view.
The food was ok, fair variety. I had the 1/2 lb burger platter (burger & fries) overpriced at $11, but what else is new, this is an MLB venue. the grilled chicken sandwich combo seemed a better value at $7. Tap beer was $7.50 with mixed drinks offered at $8 & $12. Margaritas and bottle beer were also available.
